3 Dives per day pledge:
At Lochaline boat charters we know that divers come with us because they want to dive! To ensure that you get the most from your time with us we offer our guests the opportunity to do 3 dives per day at no extra cost (apart from air fills). Obviously not everyone wants to do 3 dives every day so we are happy to arrange with your group a dive profile that suits your group.
Where to dive from:
To give you an idea of the main areas that Lochaline Boat Charters operate from and the type of diving expected we have listed them below.
Lochaline- We believe that Lochaline is the best all round diving centre in the U.K. as well as being only 3 hours drive from Central Scotland it also offers the potential of year round diving in almost any weather, while other diving areas are being blown out the Sound of Mull offers refuge in all but the worst weather. Well known dive sites available from Lochaline which are included in our daily charter rates: Hispania, John Preston, Rondo, Meldon, Breda, Thesis, Shuna, Swan (with prior permission), Falls of Lora, The Garvellach Islands, Ardtornish Point, Pennygown Quarry, Tapti, Nevada, General Consul, Aurania, Ardmore Point, Auliston Point, Calve Island, Bo Fascadale, Danny's Buoy, Elizabeth Rock, Loch Sunart and the diving around the Isle of Muck.
Tobermory/ Salen- The main benefit in diving out of Tobermory is that it enables a slightly shorter journey to reach the dive sites North and West of the Sound of Mull. Well known dive sites available from Tobermory which are included in our daily charter rates: Hispania, John Preston, Rondo, Thesis, Shuna, Swan (with prior permission), Ardtornish Point, Pennygown Quarry, Tapti, Nevada, General Consul, Aurania, Ardmore Point, Auliston Point, Calve Island, Bo Fascadale,Danny's Buoy, Elizabeth Rock, Loch Sunart and the diving around the Isle of Muck. (should you wish to base yourself in Tobermory we are happy to pick up your group and equipment in Lochaline and take you to Tobermory and take you back at the end of your trip, this will provide a major saving as you will not have the expense of ferry fares)
Oban- Oban has long been recognised as one of the main dive centres on the West of Scotland, one of its main benefits is the relatively short distance to Central Scotland, however this is rapidly offset if you choose to dive the sites in the Northern end of the Sound of Mull (North of Lochaline) Well known dive sites available from Oban which are included in our daily charter rates. Hispania, John Preston, Breda,Falls of Lora,Meldon,Rondo, Thesis, Shuna, Swan (with prior permission), Ardtornish Point, Pennygown Quarry, Calve Island,The Garvellach Islands.
The Small Isles- The Small Isles which lie just north of the Sound of Mull offer some of the best diving in the U.K. with visibility and marine life at its best. We recomend that divers either base themselves at Muck (isle of muck hotel) or Eigg (self catering) diving from the small isles you have easy access to the dive sites around the islands of Eigg and Muck which are among the best in the U.K. the magnificent Canna Wall, Sgeir a Phuirt in Canna harbour with its abundance of friendly seals. Hyskeir , Bo Fascadale,Danny's Buoy, Elizabeth Rock, Oberon Bank, Loch nan Uamh with the beautiful Anenome wall and Rafters reef. (should you wish to base yourself in the Small Isles we are happy to pick up your group and equipment in Lochaline and take you to the Small Isles, and take you back at the end of your trip, this enables diving in the Sound of Mull on the way out or on the return, particularly useful if there is inclement weather)
Uig (Skye) - Basing ourselves at Uig in the northwest of Skye we are able to reach what are the Rolls Royce of scenic dive sites, with unrivalled visibility and strong currents the sites have an abundance of marine life, the names read like the top 10 of uk dive sites and regularly feature in diving magazines accompanied by many superlatives, Sgeir Gradaigh (the ultimate according to many) Comet Rock, Waternish Point, Sgeir Inoe (Scalpay) Scalpay Bridge drift dive, Fladda Chuain, An t Iasgair, Greshornish Point, The Ascribs, Trodaigh Island, Thon Cleats, Eugene Rock. (should you wish to base yourself in Uig we are happy to pick up your group and equipment in Lochaline and take you to Uig, and take you back at the end of your trip, this enables diving in the Sound of Mull and the Small Isles on the way out or on the return, particularly useful if there is inclement weather)
In addition to the above locations we are happy to discuss with you other locations and diving requirements.
